KyleHendrick
Kyle Hendrick is an investor, entrepreneur, and technologist whose career has been shaped by the intersection of venture capital, global capital formation, emerging technology, and the relationship between the United States and the Middle East.

01 / Origins
Virginia origins
He was born and raised in Prince William County, Virginia, at the edge of Northern Virginia's rapidly expanding technology corridor. The region would eventually become known globally as "Data Center Alley," one of the most important concentrations of digital infrastructure and computing capacity in the world. Long before compute infrastructure became central to the technology conversation, Kyle grew up surrounded by the physical backbone of an increasingly digital economy.
His first obsession, however, was soccer.
Kyle attended Highland School in Warrenton, Virginia, where he was a National Honor Society student, three-sport varsity athlete in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, and was named the school's Athlete of the Year. He earned First Team All-State recognition in both soccer and lacrosse and won a state championship in soccer.
Outside of school competition, Kyle played at the highest levels of youth club soccer in the region, winning Virginia State Cups and competing in Region I and national-level competitions within the U.S. Soccer ecosystem. He spent much of his club career with BRYC Team Harkes Cardinals before later playing for Chantilly FC Manchester.

Madison and Georgetown
Kyle attended James Madison University, where soccer remained a defining part of his experience. He competed within both the varsity and club soccer programs and was part of the JMU team that won the 2010 National Club Championship. In the national championship final, Kyle scored a critical goal and was subsequently named to the All-Tournament Team during his senior year.
Immediately following JMU, Kyle enrolled in graduate school at Georgetown University, earning a Master of Professional Studies focused on Strategic Marketing and Digital Media between 2010 and 2012. The program came at an important moment in the evolution of the internet, as social platforms, mobile computing, digital distribution, and software were beginning to reshape nearly every major industry.

Sport, brands, and the Gulf
His early professional career began in sports, working at a leading agency across global sponsorship and player representation. He later joined an international franchise development firm focused on helping major retail and consumer brands expand into new markets.
It was there that Kyle began spending significant time working across the Middle East and, in particular, the Gulf Cooperation Council. He developed relationships with prominent families, business leaders, investors, and government stakeholders throughout the region and became increasingly focused on the movement of capital and technology between the Gulf and the United States.
A connection through the Georgetown community would become one of the most consequential inflection points in his career.

The Embassy
Kyle connected with Yousef Al Otaiba, the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United States and a fellow Georgetown alumnus with his own background in soccer. That relationship ultimately introduced Kyle to the UAE Embassy's commercial team, led by Commercial Counselor Saud Al Nowais.
Kyle would eventually join the UAE Embassy in Washington, D.C., working within its Trade & Commercial Office on the bilateral commercial relationship between the United States and the UAE.
The role provided an unusual vantage point into global capital allocation.
Kyle worked within a small team at the intersection of foreign direct investment, sovereign wealth capital, private equity, venture capital, and corporate expansion. The UAE was rapidly becoming one of the world's most important institutional capital markets, supported by a sovereign investment ecosystem managing more than a trillion dollars across organizations such as Mubadala, ADIA, ADQ, and other government-related investment platforms.
His work increasingly focused on the relationship between this capital and Silicon Valley.
Kyle supported initiatives involving leading technology companies, venture firms, institutional investors, and executives exploring opportunities across the Gulf. Through investors and senior decision-makers, his work touched companies including Palantir, Tesla, Stripe, Uber, and other defining technology businesses of the era, helping companies understand pathways into the region while simultaneously observing how some of the world's largest institutional investors evaluated technology investments.
That experience allowed him to see venture capital from both sides of the table: the institutional capital allocator investing into venture funds and the technology company ultimately receiving that capital.
It also convinced him there was an opportunity to build something different.

GoldCleats
During his time at the Embassy, Kyle also became a founder for the first time. Alongside the UAE's Commercial Counselor Saud Al Nowais, he co-founded GoldCleats Global Inc., the leading youth football platform in the world for player-owned and managed highlights and soccer-specific profiles.
GoldCleats was the first startup endeavor Kyle pursued, and the company is still active today.
The app has been downloaded in every available country on the global Apple App Store and Google Play, with a truly global player distribution. The player community includes some of the brightest homegrown talent in the sport, including the USA's Cavan Sullivan, the youngest-ever professional debut, who signed with Manchester City in a deal worth over $60 million, and Mathias Albert, whose transfer took him from LA Galaxy to Borussia Dortmund, among more than 40 other youth-to-pro signings from the community.
The soccer thread that began in Virginia kept running, now as a technology company.

Founding AAF
In 2015, Kyle resigned from the UAE Embassy and founded AAF Management Ltd.
The original thesis behind AAF was straightforward but unconventional for the time: combine relationships and capital from the Gulf with access to highly competitive venture-backed technology companies in the United States, while creating tangible strategic value for founders seeking to understand and eventually expand into the Middle East.
AAF's first vehicle, Arab Angel Fund I, L.P., was built around that thesis.
Rather than competing exclusively on price or check size, Kyle believed the firm's differentiation could come from a network that most U.S. venture investors did not have. The Gulf was still widely misunderstood, under-traveled, and underrepresented within the American venture ecosystem. AAF could help founders navigate governments, sovereign investors, family offices, corporate partners, and market-entry opportunities across the region while simultaneously creating access to U.S. technology investments for its investors.
By 2017, Arab Angel Fund I had successfully closed, and AAF expanded its strategy with a dedicated venture fund-of-funds vehicle.
Kyle's experience around sovereign wealth investors had given him an early education in what he describes as the "LP game": how sophisticated institutional investors construct portfolios, evaluate managers, and gain exposure to innovation through multiple layers of the private markets.
Instead of concentrating exclusively on the largest established venture franchises, AAF increasingly focused on identifying emerging managers at the beginning of their own institutional journeys.
The strategy created broad early-stage exposure across the technology ecosystem. Across AAF's initial managed vehicles, the firm gained exposure to dozens of companies that would ultimately reach billion-dollar valuations, with investments and underlying exposure including CrowdStrike, Robinhood, Influential, K Health, StockX, Ledger, Current, Jasper, Hello Heart, and numerous other technology companies.
In 2019, AAF launched AAF II - Yasi Ventures, L.P., its third managed vehicle and second core direct venture fund, expanding the firm's early-stage investment strategy.

Mint Songs
Kyle also continued building companies himself.
His second company, Mint Songs, was incubated within the broader AAF ecosystem alongside two operating co-founders. The company built infrastructure and products at the intersection of music, digital ownership, and Web3 and raised institutional capital from investors including Coinbase Ventures, Dapper Labs, Polygon Labs, Freestyle Capital, Goodwater Capital, North Island Ventures, Castle Island Ventures, and strategic angels.
Mint Songs was acquired by Napster in February 2023.

The Axis Fund
Later that year, AAF launched The Axis Fund, L.P., the firm's fourth managed fund.
The vehicle represented an important milestone in a journey that had begun more than a decade earlier. Mubadala Capital, part of Abu Dhabi's Mubadala investment ecosystem, became an anchor investor in the fund.
For Kyle, the relationship was the culmination of roughly 15 years spent working across the U.S.-UAE investment corridor.
It progressed from helping facilitate institutional and commercial relationships around sovereign capital to ultimately having one of the region's most sophisticated institutional investors anchor a fund he had built.
It also reflected the broader institutional evolution of AAF itself.
What began with a predominantly family-office and high-net-worth investor base grew into an investment platform increasingly backed by large institutional limited partners.
Today, AAF Management oversees approximately $250 million in assets under management across its investment platform. Across its vehicles, the firm has completed roughly 150 direct investments and invested in more than 45 venture capital funds, creating exposure to hundreds of technology companies and many of the venture ecosystem's most successful emerging franchises.
To date, The Axis Fund has completed 26 fund investments and 16 direct deals, creating total exposure to more than 900 companies, including 32 unicorns.

Kyle's interests have increasingly expanded beyond investing into the infrastructure underneath the technology economy itself.
Growing up in Northern Virginia has taken on new relevance as artificial intelligence has made compute, energy, data centers, semiconductors, networking, and digital infrastructure strategic resources. What was once simply the landscape surrounding his hometown has become one of the foundational physical layers of the global technology industry.
Kyle remains an active builder and developer alongside his investing work. He has achieved L5 Platinum designation within the Lovable developer ecosystem, placing him among the platform's most active developers, and regularly experiments with AI-native applications, agents, software products, and new models for building companies.
He also privately advises entrepreneurs, prominent families, professional athletes, creators, and public figures on technology, venture capital, digital assets, and entrepreneurial initiatives.
Kyle has been recognized by Washington Life magazine as part of its "Who's Next" class and has been featured or quoted in publications including Forbes, Bloomberg, TechCrunch, Fortune, Inc., and others for his work in venture capital and technology.
Across investing, company building, and technology, the common thread throughout Kyle's career has been identifying intersections before they become obvious: Silicon Valley and the Gulf, emerging venture managers and institutional capital, digital ownership and music, and now artificial intelligence and the physical infrastructure required to support it.
He remains based in Northern Virginia, not far from where the journey began.
